Ever wondered how people can share what is happening on their smartphone or computer screens as if the very same thing is happening on your own screen?

It could be a video game, a demo, or a step by step tutorial. These types of videos are called "screen capture videos."

If you are wondering how to screenshot a video, then you have come to the right place. Read on to learn what is screen capture and how to use it.

What are screen capture videos?

A screen capture video is a recording of what is happening on a screen. Screen capture videos are a versatile and powerful tool to share any information that you want.

Traditionally, this type of videos is used to show a step-by-step process. Today, you can use it to capture anything you want to share from your own computer or smartphone screen.

You may be wondering, “How do I screenshot video?” A screen capture video is produced by a screen recorder tool.

Some computers and smartphones have their own built-in screen recorder tools. If not, you can always download a mobile app or a third party software for that purpose.

How do you use screen capture videos

Tutorial

As mentioned earlier, screen capture videos were first made to quickly show a step by step process. This could be a demo on how to use something or how to achieve a specific goal.

It is a great way to explain how to use technology and how to navigate websites for those not used to using gadgets or computers.

Training

Corporations also use screen capture videos to train new employees-especially for jobs that entail working on a computer and operating a few software.

Academic presentations

In the academic setting, you can create video tutorial screen capture to help your students understand better — especially for those who are doing online tutorials or classes.

Video games

Thousands of gamers use screen capture videos to make tutorials for newbies or simply to show off how good they are in the game.

Save content

A screen recorder can record anything that happens on your screen.

You can use this as a quick way to record a video that you are watching. And don't just limit yourself to video content-you can record PowerPoint presentations, web pages, spreadsheets, and so many more.

If it is on your screen, you can capture it.

Realistic evidence

Unlike screenshots that can be easily manipulated and edited, a screen capture video is more reliable evidence. You can capture what is going on in real-time.

Product demo

Using a screen capture video is also one of the best ways to show off your product. A solid product demo strategy can easily convert a person's curiosity into a sale.

Advantage of using a screen capture video for your business

Increase sales

A screen capture demo video makes a great sales tool as a demo video to show customers how your product or service works.

Demo/tutorial video

You can use it for customer service as well. And if you do a step by step demo on your website, customers may no longer have to call your hotline for help.

Give directions

You can also use a screen capture video to give your customers directions to your business location. You can also create a screen capture video to provide instructions on sending an e-mail to your company or contacting your customer support team.

Keep your customers

A screen capture video could be the right guide to use so that your customer will not get infuriated when they find it hard to use your product. They might choose to go to your competition-especially if the competition's process is easier.

Providing a clear video that answers their questions will help you keep your customers.

Improve your FAQ page

FAQ pages can be boring when it is all text. And given the short attention span of consumers these days, they may not digest the information they need through reading.

But if you post a screen capture video along with your text solutions, they get the option to choose whether to read or watch.

Improving communication

In this digital era, a lot of businesses are working with people overseas. A considerable part of the workforce is also seeing the benefits of working from home.

When you give instructions to them, sometimes an e-mail or chatting about it is not enough. You can do a screen capture video of how you want things to be executed.

This would be as clear as giving them the instructions yourself. They can always refer back to the video if they forget something too.

Monitor your employees

You can also use screen recording tools to check on the progress of your employees. There are numerous software that uses screen recording devices that, when activated, will record whatever is on their screen at random times and lengths.

Capture tech errors

If your business has gone digital and relies on a couple of software, you will be running into occasional errors and bugs. It would take a long time for your IT team to work on it if they have to guess through the process.

It would be beneficial to use a screen recorder and show what you are doing when the error pops up.

How do I do a video screen capture

So, given all the benefits that it can do, how do you screenshot a video? Usually, the video is pre-recorded. Then, you will have a voiceover walking you through what is happening on the screen.

To record your screen-you can use third-party software for your computer and an app for your smartphone.

Tips to keep in mind when making a screen capture video

Clean up your desktop

Are you the type who places everything on their desktop?

I bet your home screen looks like a mess. You definitely do not want people to see that on your video.

Before you start recording, make sure to clean up the icons on your desktop.

Turn off notifications

One downside of recording your screen is that you may accidentally capture unwanted notifications on your screen. This could be bad if you are doing it live.

To save yourself from any possible embarrassing moments, make sure you turn off all notifications before hitting the record button.

Have a script ready

Rambling while doing a screen capture video makes it look like you are unprepared. This could make the viewer lose confidence in you as a reliable source.

It is better to do the recording first and then add your audio later. Watch the video, write a script, and you will end up with a better output.

If you have to do the screen capture video live, practice the flow first a couple of times and recognize the right cues where you should start talking or discussing something.

You can make a quick outline and place it in a small notepad on your screen and choose to record just apart of your computer screen so that your notes will not show.

Use an external microphone for your audio

Sound quality is essential since bad audio can turn off your viewers and make them look for another video.

Ensure you record your audio using an external mic since the ones built into your computer and smartphones will not give you the best results.

Place your mic in a place where it can immediately pick up your voice.

Get rid of background noise

Your mic can pick up any type of noise that is happening around you. Before you start recording, assess anything that could interrupt you and look for ways to prevent that from happening.

As you can see, a screen capture video is handy in a lot of creative ways. It can also be used for different purposes to help improve your business too.
